Introduction

Do you want to bring your camera, lenses, and laptop while looking stylish? This messenger bag from MegaGear might be the answer you’re looking for.

A long time coming, here is my review of the stylish MegaGear Torres Pro Messenger Bag.

For the last 15 years or so, I have been commuting with a laptop bag, back and forth to work. In recent years, I’ve included a camera on that commute.

Disclaimer. This bag was bought with my own money, MegaGear is not involved in any way and did not influence my thoughts or conclusions in this review.

Video Review

A while back, I did a video review that sums up this written review. Check it out!

Use a camera bag, please

Before I got the MegaGear Torres Pro Messenger Bag, I used a number of unsafe and idiotic solutions for carrying my camera. These poor choices eventually led me to break the autofocus in my 85mm Sony FE 1.8 lens. I don’t know how it happened, but several knocks to a lens attached to a camera might just do that.

A camera and lens need to be secured and transported in a carrying solution that offers protection while looking good. Luckily, this is exactly where the MegaGear Torres Pro Messenger Bag comes in.

I’ve been using this bag for the last year on several trips, vacations, and many commutes back and forth to work. I have thoroughly enjoyed using it.

What I like

There are several reasons why I like the bag:

Looks

I like the appearance of the bag. It looks stylish with a dark leather finish. Style-wise, I would place it on the casual side. It can work with a hoodie, a suit, or a pair of jeans. It’s unisex, and you can make it work with whatever you wear.

Its outer finish is made of soft leather; keep in mind it is not a hard case.

Carrying Capacity

It is designed for a camera, laptop, and accessories. It has Velcro dividers that you can adjust to fit your exact needs.

I normally have the camera body in one space, two lenses, and cables. It is also possible to place a camera with a lens attached with some simple tweaks to these velcro dividers. It has padding that protects your gear while you carry it in the bag.

On the back of the bag, there is a large, deep pocket that closes with a zipper. This is ideal for smaller items like keys and other accessories. I also store my USB-C drives in this pocket.

The Torres Pro also has room for a notebook or a tablet in the front pocket. This pocket closes with a button, so it is not suited for small items (they are likely to fall out). I can close the bag with a 12” iPad and a notebook in the front pocket, along with two lenses and a Sony A7iv in the main compartment, but at this point, the Torres Pro is getting pretty full.

Accoring to MegaGear.com, the bag fits the following:

1 x 16″ Laptop, 1 x DSLR camera, 2-3 camera lenses and 1 x standard-sized notebook or iPad

I can verify, it does fit all those things.

Build quality

The Torres Pro is made of full-grain Italian leather and oozes build quality. It even has that nice leather smell when you first get it.

The accents and metallic parts has a gold color that matches the earth tones of the brown leather well.

Now, after a full year of use with pretty heavy beating you can see that my bag has developed a patina. With some scuff marks in the leather. This is something I personally like and enjoy with leather products.

The Velcro dividers inside the messenger bag also stays in place, and have not moved by themselves since I got my bag about a year ago.

The zippers are also of good quality and they stay in place.

Final Thoughts

All in all, the MegaGear Torres Pro is worth considering if you are looking for a bag that can safely transport your camera, multiple lenses, and your laptop back and forth.

For me, it’s the perfect blend of a reasonable price, good looks, and excellent performance. I reward it with the highly sought-after “Kay’s Seal of Approval.”
