Zowie launches two new, big mice

Zowie has announced two new wireless mice, the FK1-DW and ZA12-DW. Their first larger mice in years.

Both are symmetrical, weigh 55 grams, and run 4K polling.

The FK1-DW is a large take on the FK-DW shape with a low hump, while the ZA12-DW is a medium version of the ZA-DW with a taller hump set a little further back for more palm support.

The coolest part might be that we apparently get them before the US. European buyers can grab the mice as early as late July, straight from Zowie, while the US Zowie store only follows in August. Amazon in both regions lands in September.

It is nice to see some hardware reach Europe first. Maxgaming is named as a Nordic retailer, so they are the spearhead for getting gaming gear to us up here.

For everyone else around the world, here is how the rollout shakes out. In the US the mice land on Zowie’s official site by the end of August, with Amazon following around mid-September, and Canada gets them about the same time through Memory Express and Best Buy Canada. Europe, as noted, is first out the gate: Zowie’s site and Amazon by the end of July, backed by regional retailers like MaxGaming in the Nordics, Alternate in Germany and hardwarePC.pl in Poland.

Japan, South Korea and Australia don’t have firm dates yet, so the safest move is to follow the local Zowie channels for updates.

What we know about the FK1-DW and ZA12-DW

The shared specs are the same for both: 55 grams, 4K polling, and a new shell with more angled side walls for a better grip when you reposition or lift off.

The FK1-DW measures 128.9 × 61.7 × 37.3 mm. For now both ship in white only, with a matte coating, and the box includes an Enhanced Receiver that doubles as a charging dock.

Zowie hasn’t confirmed the switches or the sensor, beyond ruling out any magnetic switch tech. The bets point to mechanical Huano switches and a PixArt sensor in the PAW3950 or PAW3955 class, but that is speculation until Zowie says so itself.

55 grams isn’t especially light for a small mouse in 2026, but for a large shape like the FK1-DW that’s good going. For comparison, my EC2-CW weighed 77 grams.

Why white only?

Here is the interesting bit: on X, Zowie implies they haven’t managed to get the same good feel with other colours (like black). It is only with the white coating that the mouse doesn’t get sticky after long sessions.

I’d assume they’ll solve this with another colour down the line.

Plenty of alternatives

I reviewed the EC2-CW a good while back and liked it a lot. The shape is excellent, there is no software to install, and Zowie has the best implementation of a receiver that doubles as a charger.

The one thing to flag was the EC2-CW’s weight. It was heavy. At least by today’s standards, now that my hand rests on a mouse that’s about 20 grams lighter.

These days we have an enormous selection of mice to choose from. On the spec sheet, the FK1-DW and ZA12-DW lose a few points on weight and presumed mechanical switches, against the fancy switches out there today.

But maybe that is not where this Zowie offering is aiming anyway? Zowie sells a proven shape, no software, and low weight for the size. That is a fair pitch, and how good it ends up being comes down to price, which Zowie hasn’t said a word about yet.

Traditionally these have been priced high, so I won’t be surprised if they land around $189, but that is pure speculation on my part. No price is confirmed at the time of writing. Stay tuned!
