Silver Pines is looking good
When I wrote about Silver Pines last year, I said it was already on my Steam wishlist and that I couldn’t wait to see more. Well, Wych Elm delivered exactly that at the Future Games Show this week. And honestly? It is looking good.

The new gameplay trailer is the most substantial look at the game yet, and it does exactly what you want a good horror reveal to do: it shows just enough. You see your detective protagonist moving through that eerie, pixel-art town, managing what looks like very limited resources, and navigating all kinds of locked doors and hidden paths. The atmosphere is thick.

One thing that stands out in the trailer is how physical the world feels. Wych Elm had been teasing destruction mechanics for a while, and you can see some of that in action here. Things like doors breaking apart, environmental details reacting to you.
It’s a small thing, but in a horror game built on dread, that kind of tactile feedback matters.

Made in Scandinavia
Wych Elm is five people, based in Sweden, and their CV includes Helldivers 2 and the BAFTA-winning Yoku’s Island Express. A very impressive background for a team this size, and I think it shows in the craft visible even in the little we have seen from Silver Pines yet.
We have a pretty good track record of releasing indie horror here in Scandinavia. From Playdead’s Inside and Limbo, to Tarsier Studios’ Little Nightmares 1 and 2 and ReAnimal.
Norway has also shown some strength in this regard, with Krillbite’s Among the Sleep, and Hyper Games’ Mørkredd.

Find Eddie Velvet
I’m still thinking about Eddie Velvet. The missing musician at the center of this mystery, whose name feels like it was pulled directly from Lynch’s notebook, remains an intriguing hook for this upcoming indie.
I keep wondering what actually happened to him, and whether the answer will be something grounded or something far stranger and paranormal. I cannot wait to find out later in 2026.

Silver Pines is coming to PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch sometime in 2026. No demo yet, but the June Next Fest seems like a natural window to watch.
