Wooting 80HE travel case review
I probably wouldn’t have commuted with the 80HE at all if it wasn’t for this case.
For this review, I wanted to use the 80HE both at work and at home. You know, to get the most out of my experience with the board. But that spawned another issue: how do I safely transport my new shiny toy back and forth to work?

The travel case solved that. It’s what actually enabled me to bring the keyboard back and forth every day for three to four weeks.
Without it, the 80HE would have stayed safely at home.
So the real question isn’t whether this case is nice to have. It’s whether you plan to move with your keyboard or not.
What you’re carrying
We need to talk about the weight. The 80HE itself is nearly 1900 grams. Add the case, and you’re looking at over 2600 grams total. That’s hefty. But that weight is what you pay for safety, and I’ll take a heavy case over a damaged keyboard.

The case reminds me of the Steam Deck case in both shape and intent: hard outer shell, sturdy double zippers, proper handle, a logo, and a small hook for attaching a carrying strap.

Inside the case
Opening it reveals a storage compartment in the lid where accessories are stored in a small biodegradable bag. This area fits larger items too, like phone chargers or extra cables.

The main compartment has a rigid inner shell with additional storage secured by two grey velcro straps. Materials feel premium throughout, soft black velour lining the interior. The keyboard straps in securely, and a molded base keeps it in place whether or not you’re using the adjustable feet.
Accoring to the specs, the case also fits the official Wooting wrist rest without issue.

Daily commute
I carried this between home, car, and office for the entire review period. For that type of commute, it works perfectly.
That said, this is not something I would casually carry for long walks. My problem is that the 80HE doesn’t fit in my messenger bag, and my laptop and camera doesn’t fit in the Wooting 80HE travel case.
So, If commuting with the keyboard long term, I would probably look for a larger bag that fits keyboard, laptop, camera and all other gear. But for intentional transport, door to door, it does exactly what it needs to do. And if you dont carry laptop and only the keyboard? Perfect.
One unexpected thing: the travel case draws attention.
My father-in-law noticed it lying in the hallway, picked it up, and was surprised by the weight. He asked what it was, and was genuinely impressed when I showed him the 80HE inside.
This is a genuine, true story!

Protection
The combination of hard shell, sturdy zippers, molded interior, and velcro straps makes the keyboard feel very safe when locked inside the travel case. I’m completely comfortable tossing this in the back of a car without worrying.
While other keyboards can technically fit inside, the case is clearly molded for the 80HE dimensions.
Price
At around 366 NOK / £27 / €30, the travel case feels fairly priced. The US price is higher at $45, likely due to import tax and/or the overall political turmoil.
If you plan to travel with your 80HE, this is a no-brainer.
Verdict
This case is for people who actually move their keyboard: commuters, LAN players, office users, anyone who travels with their setup.
If your keyboard lives permanently on your desk, you don’t need it.
But if you plan to take your 80HE anywhere, this is what makes that possible. Worth the asking price any day.
